Full-color membership application for the Hawaii Kai Chamber of Commerce. Shown is the trifold layout for the front and back, with a mailer option.
Winners’ Camp 25th Anniversary Celebration Flyer on August 15th, 2010. Project includes Eventbrite setup, Facebook event setup, and Mailchimp email/USPS mail campaign.
The website in place is already serving this client's needs, so instead of doing a complete redesign, the project involved reorganizing the navigation menu and putting together a new landing page that emphasizes the most important aspects of her business: the video production company, the launch of her new book and the workshops.
The project also included setting up an email campaign manager, a very simple CMS and website traffic reporting.
By the way, if you're interested in purchasing her book, it's available online at
Createspace!
The most recent 8X10 flyer for Hawaii Leadership Academy. I've been working with this non-profit educational foundation since early 2007.
A gift certificate design for a local acupuncturist.
Here is a brand new email newsletter design for Winners' Camp Foundation. View the entire newsletter online at: http://tinyurl.com/2fy9hoc.
It's very image-rich and readable.
I provided all of the photography services for them and created the header graphics. For more information about Winners' Camp (they have provided leadership trainings for teenagers since 1985!) visit http://www.winnerscamp.com.
The Red, White and Blues Fundraiser on May 21st, 2010, is a community event with the aim of raising funds for the July 4th Maunalua Bay Fireworks. Project included flyer design, setup of online ticket sales through Eventbrite, press release distribution and scheduled email campaigns.
I designed a series of 20"X30" full color posters for Winners' Camp to be used as instructional props for their teen leadership programs.
These would also be great on classroom walls as standalone posters.
A flyer design for the March 12th event with the Hawaii Kai Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the flyer design, I'm providing ticket sales management (including invitation emails) and will be recording the event in HD video for uploading to YouTube.
I've been working on a personal photography project with some of the spectacular locations we have here in Hawaii. It started with a photo I took of the Sydney Opera House, and ever since then I've been chasing around locations, trying to find the right viewpoint to create these photos.
The process is a digital mimic of what is known as 'tilt-shift photography', also known to a lot of people as a 'miniaturization' effect.
This is a flyer design used in online promotions for the first Networking Luncheon of 2010 with the Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce. We integrated the flyer with the online ticket manager system (Eventbrite) and offered online ticket sales right from the home page of the website. Below is a screenshot of the completed event webpage where people purchase tickets using Paypal or credit cards. This is an example of how everything needs to tie together: graphic design, event marketing, online ticket sales and paypal integration.
Maika'i Massage is the professional massage therapy business owned by Kelly Rasmussen. Based in downtown Kailua, the business needed to create consistent marketing materials that include rack cards, a display rack for the rack cards, and logo design. The two-sided full-color rack cards will be used both in her office as promotional materials, and in other rack displays within the community.
While the screenshot might look like a simple (and somewhat skinny) website, it's actually an email! Hawaii Leadership Academy has been creating some really fun emails over the past 6 months with embedded YouTube videos from the Founding Director, interesting stories, and live links to the Facebook Fan page, the main website, and the online donations page, all of which we've set up together.
In addition to being able to create customized and eyecatching emails, their contact lists are automatically managed. People can subscribe/unsubscribe, and bounced emails are 'cleaned' regularly by the system.
Hawaii Leadership Academy has been able to stay in closer touch with the huge ohana of graduates, donors, families and supporting businesses, and the general response has been incredibly positive: people are forwarding the newsletters to their friends and visiting the website!

January 1, 2010 Update: Thanks to everyone who has come across this posting and decided to use my zenfolio promo code: I really appreciate it! Remember, my code never expires, so even though I posted this back in December, it’s still good.
February 22, 2010 Update: It’s been really great to meet so many other photographers just by connecting with them through this referral code: thanks, Zenfolio!

My Zenfolio Premium account paid for itself within 1 day of being online! No joke. Their customer service has been prompt, the user interface is friendly, I haven’t had any clients contacting me with technical difficulties, and uploading is an easy process. I would highly recommend Zenfolio for anyone doing event or session photography: it’s so great to be able to upload password-protected galleries for clients and to be able to offer digital downloads.
It’s a win-win!
The aim of the video contest is to get the teens and community actively involved by offering a grand prize of a full scholarship to Winners' Camp. Elements of the project include design of the contest website; compilation of all rules and regulations for the contest; html newsletter announcement; updates to Facebook Fan page and camp blog; announcement on home page of main website; marketing to local organizations; and creation of the YouTube Group that will display all of the final entries.
An event flyer for the Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce. I hiked up to a lookout on Kamehame Ridge to take the photo that we used for the background, I included the final panorama below. Please contact me if you're interested in panorama: it is available for printing in a variety of formats.
In addition to the flyer design, the project involved setting up the third-party event manager system. Eventbrite allows companies and nonprofit organizations to automate the event ticket sales, including management of contact lists, html email invitations to the event, and credit card payments.
We just set up a basic Paypal-based storefront for Underwater Goddess. Customers can purchase greeting cards (packs of 6) or original works of art. This is an incredibly cost-effective solution for getting started with selling products or services online: set up a Paypal account, generate button code and product thumbnails, upload to the website, spread the word and start taking orders.
We put together some business cards for In Deep Photo. This challenge with these cards was that they needed to be fully waterproof, since he is a surf photographer and most of the time he needs to have his cards with him while he is shooting. It was really, really difficult to find a good online printer for waterproof business cards that was also cost-effective. Lots of companies were quoting in the $400 range for 1000 cards. We finally found a company that allowed for online orders, 4colorprint.com. They quoted only $125 for 4-color printing on 12mil card: absolutely waterproof and great quality. Their shipping rates were completely reasonable as well. I don't usually plug third-party services on this blog, but in this instance I thought it was worth it.
An event flyer designed for online marketing for the Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce. We set up a straightforward online ticket management system (utilizing Eventbrite), email campaigns and website integration of the ticket systems.
Using a Wordpress theme from Graph Paper Press, we set up a surf photo blog that includes lightbox widgets (the cool viewing effect in the galleries), paypal integration, and a custom slideshow header on the home page.
A 6-foot tall, full-color banner created for Beautiful Son Foundation marketing purposes.
The Complementary Care Clinic (www.complementarycareclinic.com) provides an integrated approach to the healthcare needs of Oahu communities. This Kailua clinic has services in Physical Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation, Athletic Training, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Qi Gong Therapy.
The design is shared by three practitioners, and the 8-page site includes downloadable pdf intake forms, integrated Google Maps and a page editor so that the therapists can update their own individual pages.
Symmetry (http://www.acupunctureinhawaii.com) is an established Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine clinic in Honolulu. Features include a simple Picasa-integrated photo gallery, Google Maps, .pdf downloads of research articles, a basic content management system for easy updates to the site, and a dramatic design. I've included here the home page plus a sample of a sub-page.
I provide event photography for the one-week Hawai'i Leadership Academy for Teenagers Camps, and create a DVD slideshow with music for the families and for future camp promotions. The project also includes posting photos every evening so parents from Hawai'i and the mainland can check in and see the activities their teens have been participating in during the day.
