Website Re-Design: Hawaii Rolfing

The Hawaii Rolfing website, one of the first websites I put together, was long overdue for a major facelift. The original color scheme was kind of 'clunky' and the layout looked like it was made with tables (although it wasn't).
I softened the colors and created a more civilized structure, while maintaining a continuity with the previous design (simple, straightforward). The information was reorganized as well.
Hawaii Rolfing has had impressive success within the Google Search Engine. The site consistently has been on the first page of Google for most searches in most combinations (Hawaii Rolfer, Find a Rolfer in Hawaii, Rolfer Kailua and even Best Rolfer in Hawaii!).

Brochure Design: Beautiful Son Foundation

Beautiful Son Foundation, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, now has a beautiful informational tri-fold brochure design that outlines the programs they offer. With Autism affecting 1 in 150 children, finding solutions is an urgent priority. Children in Hawaii have a particularly difficult time accessing treatments due to geographic isolation & costs.
Beautiful Son Foundation is really making a difference in Hawaii, and I'm honored to be working with them.

Website Design – First Class Media Wedding Videography

We've added a new page layout to www.fcmhi.com that integrates well into the rest of the site. This is a good example of a site evolving over time to meet the needs of the business: we're refining the look of the site and continuously optimizing for search engines. The goal is to be on the first page of Google results for Hawaii Wedding Videography: the site has so far steadily climbed from the seventh page to the third page.
*Note: As of April 28th, 2009, the website is on page 1 of Google search results for "Hawaii Wedding Videographer".
*Note: As of September 30, 2009, we've set up a new Flash site for this company under the new name, Prince7 Studios. The older html site was taken offline.

Website Design – Q-Card Tips

Q-Card Tips was originally a site that was built entirely on a shopping cart platform. We took the basic concept and created an informational site with an integrated Paypal shopping cart. At the present time, there is only one item (The Original Q-Card Tips) featured on the site, but plans are in the works to develop more Q-Cards. This site will easily allow for future expansion and updates.

Forum – Kapuaokalani.com

This week we put together an online community for Kapuaokalani: Academy of Hawaiian Soulistic Healing. The forum is a great addition to the Kapuaokalani website because it allows all of the Lomilomi practitioners and students of Hawaiian culture to meet, network and share ideas. Kumu Karen wanted a place for everyone to communicate easily with each other, and I wanted it to be as user-friendly as possible. It is completely integrated within the website as an 'online community'

Website Design – Hawaii Leadership Academy

Winners' Camp has been utilizing an award-winning site that was launched approximately 10 years ago, and through the years bits and pieces have been added on by a myriad of employees and volunteers. The site ended up being congested with internal links, and pages had a 'tacked on' look without consistency in style. That being said, the community cares for and respects Winners' Camp, and the desire was to create a site that remained consistent to the image. An additional challenge was the current transitional name change from Winners' Camp to Hawaii Leadership Academy. The new site was specifically designed to appeal to teenagers as well as parents. Features include audio, an animated sidebar, updated photos, and an intuitive navigation system. Google Maps is integrated, as well as a Paypal Donation page.

Website Design – Kapuaokalani

This project is an ongoing labor of love for Kumu Karen Leialoha Carroll. I met Kumu Karen a number of years ago, and put together a basic site for her using iWeb. It was extremely slow-loading, and we decided to work together to do a complete site redesign, building it properly in Dreamweaver. The goal was to create a clean look for the site, with a simple navigation system. This is an informational site, where visitors not only can get basic information about Kapuaokalani, but also can learn about traditional Hawaiian Lomilomi and Hawaiian culture.
We also did a mirror site in Japanese, because Kumu Karen has strong ties with her Japanese students. There is a nice Flash-based photo gallery (sourced from Search-This.com) and a simple contact form.
The site is located at www.kapuaokalani.com.
